The core of the UAV is the set of its electronics. Being the brain of the whole vehicle it provides the power for necessary calculations, all the needed data from the sensors, as well as some additional features, which makes the Flying Monster LP2 Quadrocopter irreplaceable machine for many tasks.
Its main goal is to provide low-level oversight of quadrocopter elements like the engines or LED lights. This part was designed and produced completely from scratch. Based on Atmel Atmega 8-bit microprocessor, the whole board provides stable control with fast communication with the main computer (Raspberry Pi).
The code for the Atmega microchip was writen in C language with special libraries for that kind of purpose. It controls all the board’s functionalites:
The next step was to produce the electronic board using copper coated laminate and all the necessary electronic parts. The whole production and post-production process consisted of small iterations of tests as each board’s functionalities had to be checked before the vehicle went airborne.
